Just in time

I havent been painting regularly enough lately, but I still got some things done!

1- Finished assembly of 24 stormvermin (including 4 oop metal ones)

2- Finished converting my chieftain (with warlock augmented weapon)

3- Finished painting my mainstay clanrat unit (which eventually would push something in combat if I ever get around to it)

I'm happy with the overall look of the clannies, i feel it's good tabletop quality painting. Because I imagine the fluff of my army putting them close to Cathay I decided to use chinese writting for the banner. This one means 'rat' but there will be different ones with other meanings for other units.

Clanrats WIP

Greetings man-things!

I've done some work on a regiment of 36 clanrats which will be composed of 20 of the new models, 1 old rat ogre as a unit filler and some old plastics + old metal stormvermin that look too weak to mix with the new ones.

conversion of the standard and rat ogre are fairly simple, let me know if you want more info ^^

Well it's been raining non stop for about 10 days now, the sea seems ready to jump out of it's bed and crash into the city, which means i've done a lot of painting (for me it was a lot)!

I had a lot of old plastic clanrats laying around and I decided i HAD to finish them before I get any of the new ones. And that's how a regiment of 25 slaves was born.

All in all I painted 34 clanrats and an assassin (it was standing there looking cool and I needed a break from the boring rank and file) in 2 weeks! I'm relatively pleased with overall results ^^!

All toguether that's 25 clanrats, 25 slaves and a small regiment of giant rats ...

couple tricks when painting big regiments:

1) dont spend too much time on the rear ranks
2) make sure they rank up and number the bases (i paint a roman number under the base)
3) if you're really in a hurry, (arent we all sometimes) paint each area of the models without shading or highlighting, in the color that you want the raised areas to be (ex: if you want dark blue paint enchanted blue and the wash will do the rest). once you're done give them a good wash.

For tip number 3 i was inspired by the technique developed by "the army painter" which you can find in my wargaming links.

The Skaven are finally back, and Gamesworkshop(GW) has finally decided they also deserve some nice miniatures! I was never a big player of any GW game mainly because I dont know any enthousiastic players to organise games, campains and motivate each other to invest in the hobby.

I decided to create this blog to share my progress with the hobby, I will be painting a lot of rats ... and hopefully meeting many new players in my region as I go along!

It seems GW has just done something right ... if I had not seen the new Warlord Queek model ... I wouldnt be here typing ^^!
